Maggie Travers, District Educational Support Counselor, has been visiting our Fifth Grade Classes on Fridays. They work on improving their self-awareness and emotional regulation through practicing mindfulness and chair yoga. She has also created a list of Self-Regulation Resources for Teachers and Parents that you may find helpful to use with your kids (or for yourself). Click here to check it out!

CHADS All-in Conversations

We appreciated having presenters from the CHADS Coalition for Mental Health come talk with our students about Empathy and Emotion Management this September. Presenters visited Team Water and Team Fire classes on September 23, and Team Earth and Team Air classes on September 30.These presentations should help reinforce what students are learning in their Second Step social emotional learning lessons. Within the CHADS presentations, students will become familiar with understanding different emotions and how to process them in positive, healthy ways. They also introduced the Acknowledge, Care, Tell (ACT®) technique to help students seek out a trusted adult if they struggle with managing their emotions.

If you are interested in learning more about CHADS Coalition please visit their website at www.chadscoalition.org. They are also hosting a free ALL IN Conversations for parents and the community on the first Tuesday of the month.  Click Here to see their full schedule. Their next one is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4, from 6:00-7:00pm, and they will be talking about Bullying Prevention month and discussing ways to advocate for your child and how to work with schools. AMI--Take 2

Hi Dragons, hope you're all staying safe! If you're looking for an activity to do and haven't tried the kindness bingo  posted last week you can find it below. There are other activities and resources available on the FGC Counseling Google Classroom as well.--if you haven't joined yet use code 37extoa

But as one of your classmates pointed out to me last week--too much electronics can negatively affect your mental health. Remember to take breaks and if you feel like you're at your max. Maybe you want to take some time to read a book, play a board game, draw or create something, cook something, write someone a letter, take a nap....you know you best, so take some time to take care of yourself in the way that works for you!
